No time for Blues!

When some are feeling blue being indoors so long, think green because spring is on it's way!
Seems we even turn our clocks ahead this coming weekend.... a sure sign . Except, of course, if you look out your Rochester, New York window right now .....it's snowing !
Well, we've had a hot time in the studio this winter. Sky McDonagh joins as new flamework instructor. On Saturday, she's making shamrocks . Next week's hot spot is lining glass beads and making end caps in the metals studio. Bring your own beads or buy one of hers'.
Details on our website .
Way too much fun !

Hot time in the City!

It's so brilliant outside my studio window. Really gorgeous day with 14 inches of wonderful light snow. Sparkling clean fluffy stuff.
Winter offers challenges for the hot glass artist. While torches and kilns create some warmth , we ventilate our studios and therefore , all the heat gets pulled outside.
It's just another interesting challenge.

COOL !

September brings vibrancy and color to the northeast. Andy plans a move to Ft. Collins, Colorado with an exciting opportunity to work for Enginuity, part of the Dresser-Rand family of international companies.
Studio 34 is now a full service jewelry design and repair studio , Paragon and Delphi authorized dealer, and exciting new classes for all levels.
This month, Hadar Jacobson arrives from The Netherlands to teach two workshops for metal clay artists. Hadar is the author of three books on metal clay, developed her own line of bronze, copper, steel, stainless steel, white bronze, and pearl grey steel clays.
In November, Carol Cypher, also the author of three books, comes to Rochester for 4 unqiue classes.
Summer brought wonderful artists, students, and visitors to the studio. Sharon Peters, Brad Pearson, Kristen Frantzen Orr, and Melanie Moertel all had sell out classes. Incredible fun!

Hot summer classes are really cool!

Kristen is back from Germany and soon to be in Rochester for her class, which has a waiting list now.
Our son is in Germany , actually Frankfort. Andy was on his way from India to Spain when he got sick on the plane; apparently something he picked up in India. Thank goodness for international telephones as we are able to keep close tabs on him.
I'm thinking of asking some of my ISGB colleagues in Germany to get closer to him and report back.
While Skype is terrific, Andy's luggage isn't with him so he's without access.

More hot summer classes for cool students:
Brad Pearson's workshops have one spot left in each!
Sharon Peter's has one spot in the second workshop.
And Melanie Moertel is almost filled.
Studio 34 faculty are rolling out new classes this summer.

Is it time for Social Security ?

I can officially apply for social security today. Holy smokin' beads!
So many nice years behind me.
Thanks for joining me on my journey. What a great trip!

Studio is rocking with new summer classes and more metal arts workshops. Steampunk studnets have been creating phenomenal imaginative pieces.
A lot of hot stuff going on in the glass lab. Our first Beads of Courage event saw lots of visitors and glass artists. More than 90 beads designed and created plus some funds raised. Paragon kilns set up and ready for new larger projects.

Going to pick strawberries now ! A day to play and relax and enjoy being 62.

Alicia is back from New Mexico and California. Yea ! Missed our play dates.
New stuff we are eager to play with: Bronze and steel clay, faux bone, glass clay...what the heck is glass clay?
Beads of Courage workshops begin next week. Pat, Michelle, me, and Kim are meeting on Friday. Help is always welcome. Our goal is 1000 beads to donate at the ISGB conference in July. But this is a long term project so volunteers will be needed beyond . Interested?
